DHT Blocker

What is a DHT Blocker? First off, what is DHT? DHT stands for Dihydrotestosterone. This is made via a byproduct of Testosterone. Hair loss begins when hair follicles are attacked by DHT. To make matters worse it also prevents current and future hair growth. which in turn causes hair loss by preventing hair growth. DHT attacks mainly the hair follicles at the temples and crown of the head. This type of balding is known as Androgenic Alopecia or Pattern Baldness.

What makes DHT?

When you break it down it's quite simple. There is an enzyme called 5 Alpha-Reductase (5AR) that has the ability to convert Testosterone (T) to DHT.

5AR + T = DHT

Then DHT finds Androgen Receptors (AR) inside the hair follicle. This causes the hair follicle to get smaller and eventually die in some cases.

So what can we do to stop this. Well, we can stop the process at the start with a DHT Blocker which could also be called a 5AR inhibitor.

There are a variety of DHT blocking treatments on the market and in a variety of forms including pills, topical solutions applied directly to the scalp, and Shampoos which are supposed to be formulated to wash away the DHT.

You'll have to decide what method is best for you.

UPDATE: I'm 36 years old and I can slowly see the hair loss start to happen. I'm a workout freak and bodybuilding and weight training is one of my hobbies. I'm all natural and if you saw me you wouldn't really quantify me as a bodybuilder. I'm more of a bigger version of Ryan Reynolds. I'll take one pound of new muscle any day. But I won't take that pound of muscle if it comes with 2 pounds of fat. I'm usually about 1-2 months away from being totally ripped even in the off-season. I have no interest in taking steroids, but I'm sure I have elevated testosterone levels compared to the average male my age. That's what got me interested in dh blocking products. My goal is to see if I can stave off some of this hair loss I'm seeing. I'm not sure if what I see is due to genetics or due to my lifestyle. I'm going to try a bunch of products and then I'll post the reviews here. It may take a while so don't forget to check back. Also, hit me up via the contact form if you have any questions, comments, or suggestions. I'm always interested in more advice so if you have some you know where to reach me.
